Chryseia is our finest expression of the Douro Valley terroir. Made with great care and attention to detail at our winery at Quinta de Roriz, Chryseia represents our two families' commitment to producing the most elegant wine from two hallmark Douro grapes: Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca.
The yearAn unusually cold and remarkably dry winter followed by an erratic spring led to poor fruit set and, in turn, a much smaller crop. A cooler summer mitigated the effects of the drought, and grapes ripened very well.
The wineThe 2012 is characterised by its luxurious palate, schist minerality, and profound elegance.

Ageing: Aged for 15 months in new 400 litre French oak barrels.
Tasting notes : Alluring aromas of fruits of the forest with discreet scents of cardamom and mint. Luxurious palate with superb purity of fruit balanced by spicy, taut tannins and attractive schist minerality. Exquisite wood integration. A wine of great precision, generous and powerful with elegance and balance.
